Incidents on patrol night 05/04/2015

Very busy few days for WMSAR: Suicide prevention teams intervened with a female attempting to take her own life by drowning last night. This brings the number of incidents dealt with by WMSAR volunteers to 4 over the last 7 days here in Waterford City. Volunteers put their training into play and kept the female safe until Gardaí and Waterford Ambulance Service arrived and took the person to safety. Patrol teams also dealt with 1 other individual who required First Aid, again the person was assisted by Waterford Gardai and Waterford Ambulance Service. Great work by all the services. Are you, or someone you know, in crisis? In a crisis (when someone might harm themselves, harm someone else, or is vulnerable to suicide) it is important to get help as quickly as you can for yourself or the person you are concerned about. Very busy time for WMSAR crews

Today at 12:45 p.m, on 03/04/2015 a Waterford Marine Search and Rescue volunteer and members of the public assisted a person in a troubled state on the quayside of Waterford City. Our volunteer, trained in suicide prevention by the HSE, approached the individual who was attempting to climb over the railings and enter the water, talking him back to safety. Waterford An Garda S?och?na and Waterford Ambulance Service arrived promptly and the person was brought into care.Well done to ALL involved.
