Earlier this evening our volunteers were alerted to a person entering the river a short distance away from our base at the Neptune Marina. WMSAR rescue crew and boat launched immediately, contacting Irish Coastguard on the way. The assistance of Fire Brigade, Ambulance, WCRR and Gardai was also requested.
On arrival on scene, the casualty was struggling to stay afloat, was initially combative and appeared to be in an altered state. The person was recovered to the boat and quickly passed over to the care of the Emergency Services.
