***Call Out – 07/08/16 At 05:50 am*** Waterford Gardaí intervene with a male attempting to enter the River Suir to end his life by suicide by drowning. Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, launched our rescue boat to assist Waterford Gardaí with an incident on Rice Bridge in the early hours of this morning. Crews were on scene with in minutes as members from Waterford Garda Station spoke to the male who was over the railings on Rice Bridge with the intention of entering the water. Waterford Gardaí safely talked the male back over the railings to safety. Our rescue boat and land team returned to base and were stood down. Also on scene were Waterford City Fire Service , WCRR, An Garda Síochána, Waterford Ambulance Service and coordinated by Irish Coast Guard. Day Tripper Festival Waterford

Our crews attended the Daytripper festival here in Waterford City over the weekend for our bucket collection. Christy Dignam and Billy Mcguinness of Aslan decided to pitch in and give a helping hand with our crews. 😀 We would like to thank the kindness of the people of Waterford who’s generosity and good wishes at the festival has been nothing short of amazing.

Operations continue tomorrow

WMSAR volunteers have completed their third days searching in Fiddown for a missing person. Also present over the weekend were our colleagues from Carrick River Rescue and Kilkenny Civil Defense, as well as numerous local men and women who assisted. Thank you to An Garda Síochána and Irish Coast Guard. Operations continue tomorrow.

Search for a 36 year old Italian man, living in Kilkenny, Ireland

A Search operation was launched at 17:00 on the 08/01/2015 has now entered Day 67 WMSAR teams were tasked by Irish Coast Guard earlier this evening to a report of a person entering the water from Suir Bridge. Volunteers were on a training exercise at the time and responded immediately, despite worsening weather conditions.?A search of the area was conducted in coordination with Rescue 117, WCRR, and Waterford City Fire Service. All volunteers have now been stood down for the night and operations will continue in the morning. Garda? are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the bypass or bridge at around 5pm and who saw anything to contact them on 051 305300. This has been the longest search and recovery operation in recorded history on the River Suir. WMSAR crews have searched consecutively for 67 days since the 08/01/2015. The search was stood down without any results on Sunday the 15th of March 2015.
