Done Deal.ie Donate €12505.00 to W M S A R

Waterford Marine Search and Rescue would like to extend our utmost gratitude and thanks to Cen Breathnach and all the DoneDeal.ie team for this amazing donation of €12,505 to our organisation. With this contribution, we can provide our volunteers with new life jackets and Fladden suits to continue to safely carry out our suicide prevention patrols here in Waterford City centre. This will also be a massive boost in our journey towards establishing a 24/7 base in Waterford City. As well as being a training centre, this base will give the family and friends of a missing person somewhere safe to rest during a search, so they can be updated with events as they unfold. L-R: Eamonn Russell ( WMSAR ), Cen Breathnach ( DoneDeal ) and Ger Condon ( WMSAR ).

Enda O Doherty what a inspirational Man. “4 miles to go and the pain was everywhere except in the smiling faces around me. Legs, shoulders burning so close to home yet so far”. Pictured is Enda O’ Doherty the man with the washing machine. Enda seen here in severe pain after walking from Belfast to Waterford to raise much needed funds for a Pieta House in Waterford City to service the South East of Ireland. Incidents on patrol night 05/04/2015

Very busy few days for WMSAR: Suicide prevention teams intervened with a female attempting to take her own life by drowning last night. This brings the number of incidents dealt with by WMSAR volunteers to 4 over the last 7 days here in Waterford City. Volunteers put their training into play and kept the female safe until Gardaí and Waterford Ambulance Service arrived and took the person to safety. Patrol teams also dealt with 1 other individual who required First Aid, again the person was assisted by Waterford Gardai and Waterford Ambulance Service. Great work by all the services. Are you, or someone you know, in crisis? In a crisis (when someone might harm themselves, harm someone else, or is vulnerable to suicide) it is important to get help as quickly as you can for yourself or the person you are concerned about.
